About Us

We were established in 1901. The Club has between 350 and 400 members and is the oldest and one of the largest in the area.  Swimmers currently swim in 5 different pools including Dudley and Stourbridge Leisure Centres and a number of school pools.  The Club has achieved ASA quality approval with their Swim21 accreditation and been awarded Sport England’s prestigious Club mark.  All Coaches and Committee Members have been DBS police checked and all Teachers and Coaches are ASA qualified.  The Club is an amateur club and run on a non-profit basis, ensuring charges are kept to a minimum.  It also has 2 welfare officers (one male and one female) to ensure that the welfare of all swimmers is protected.
The club is a competitive swimming club and competes in the premier division of the leagues and takes swimmers up to National standard. It also has members competing on the international stage. We are the only club in the area which has two full time teams competing in all the major leagues and so can offer the best competiitve opportunties in the area. However we are also a family friendly club with a thriving Parents Association who organise events.
How old do you need to be to join and how good a swimmer?
LEARN TO SWIM – The Club has its own learn to swim scheme run by our Head Teacher Toni Vaughan. It is based at Wollescote School in Lye and is held on Friday evenings. The age range is from 3 to 7 years. We take non swimmers and weak swimmers who need to improve. To get more information email  TONI VAUGHAN t.vaughan825@btinternet.com. You can also visit Wollescote School pool at 6.00pm. We also work closely with the local authority schemes at Dudley and Stourbridge and have links with Swimrite.

JUNIOR MEMBERS (6 YEARS TO 9 YEARS) – The Club is always seeking new junior swimmers from age 6 up to 9 and has no waiting lists for this age group. You only need to be able to swim a couple of widths to be eligible to join the Club. If you can’t we can still accept you in our learn to swim scheme and you can progress from there). To join the Club, or just to see what goes on, come along to Dudley Leisure Centre in Wellington Road between 4.00pm and 5.00pm on Sunday afternoon. When you arrive you can simply watch what we do and ask any questions about the Club or have a trial and a free lesson to see if you enjoy it. (For a trial you are simply asked to do a couple of widths to see what standard you are so that you are put with a group of similar ability)

JUNIOR MEMBERS (10 YEARS TO 13 YEARS) – We have vacancies for swimmers 10 and over.  However, we do ask for a higher standard of swimming ability for this age group as they will be joining swimmers who are likely to have been at the Club for some time.  Come along on a Sunday evening between 5.00pm and 6.00pm and speak to our Head Teacher or one of our Coaches.  Alternatively contact our Club Secretary, Chris Buswell on stourswimsecretary@gmail.com and we will be happy to discuss your childs needs.

SENIOR MEMBERS – 14 YEARS TO ADULT – We have sessions for older swimmers and adults . However these are limited and you need to contact the Club to ascertain the present situation and if vacancies exist.

If you need to discuss your child’s swimming or development please feel free to contact Chris Buswell on stourswimsecretary@gmail.com
