Would You Announce at Galas?

We are looking for a new announcer to help share the duties of announcing at SSC galas.

At present we rely heavily on a couple of people, who do a wonderful and important job of announcing events and results at our galas, but we need more people to help spread the load.

Would you help us and ultimately the swimmers? Full support and shadowing of an existing announcer is available starting at the Crystal Open on 12 March 2017. No experience is required.

The Club is run by volunteers. We need YOU to step up and help YOUR Club!! Please join the Blue Army of volunteers that keeps your club running! #YourClubNeedsYou

Please ring/text Gail on 07954 334888 for further information.

Thank you. SSC

John Vaughan Trophy Gala

Well done to all the swimmers at the John Vaughan Trophy gala. We had some amazing swims with great PBs. For many swimmers it was their first ever gala and they loved it! It was brilliant to see the support everyone each other when going up to swim. It was also fantastic to see the old tradition of the Opens swimming butterfly for the final relays, although we didn’t win these, there is always next year. A big thank you to everyone who helped poolside and volunteered their time, it would not run without you.
Well done Pershore for winning the trophy. The final results were:
Pershore        379
Redditch        323
Blythe             321
Kingsbury      301
Stourbridge   239
Heath Town  167

Worcester County – Long Distance Day

7 members of the club made the short journey to Wolverhampton to race the 1500 free (males); 800 free (females) and 50s all strokes for the masters swimmers.

In the 1500 free Tom Davidson swam a well paced race and recorded a 26sec PB and the bronze medal.

Frankie Bach and Jack Jones both came away with Silver and Gold in their respective age groups … good job boys.

In the 800 event for girls Grace Butler swam an even paced 12sec PB; Beth Tetsill swam a seasons best time to claim the bronze and we saw a gutsy performance from Natasha Corbett, who was carrying a leg injury going into the race.

Alison Miller was our only masters swimmer competing today, swimming all the 50s and taking a clean sweep of the gold medals.

Focus moves onto next weekends County Championships for our swimmers.

Well done today guys and good luck everyone next week.

Pete
