WORCESTER COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS & AGE GROUP COMPETITION CONDITIONS

 

1. County Championships and Age Groups, hereinafter called the competitions, under ASA Laws and ASA Technical Rules, shall be competed for annually. The dates and venue(s) of the competitions shall be agreed by the Management Board.

 

2. Each Club shall nominate one person to be responsible for the validity of the entries of members to the competitions. The name, address and telephone number of the nominated representative shall be forwarded to the Swimming Secretary by the 14th December prior to the year of competition. Failure to comply with this condition will render the Club liable to a fine ten times the individual entry fee to the competitions.

 

3. Competitors must be members of a Club affiliated to the Association, and be an ASA registered member of the club in whose name they are entered, at least 14 days before the closing date for entries.

 

Any swimmer who enters or takes part in these Championships or Age group Competitions must not represent another County, or have entered or taken part in the Championships or Age Group Competitions of another English County, Scotland or Wales during the same calendar year.

 

4. The Championships for both sexes will be:

·        2 lengths freestyle 12 years and under

·        50 metres backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle

·        100 metres backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle

·        200 metres backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle

·        100, 200 and 400 metres individual medley

·        400, 800 and 1500 metres freestyle

 

5. Age Group Categories

 

British Age Group Categories (BAGCATS)

Boys 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 years Girls 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 years

 

Youths and Senior Age Groups

Boys 15/16, 17/over Girls 14, 15/16, 17/over

 

6. The AGE GROUP events shall be

·        Boys/Girls 9 years

50m and 200m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle

100m & 200m Individual Medley

·        Boys/Girls 10 &11 years

50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle

100m & 200m Individual Medley

400m Freestyle

·        Boys/Girls 12 years and over

50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle

100m, 200m and 400m Individual Medley

400m, 800m and 1500m Freestyle

 

7. The AGES for ALL EVENTS will be as at the last day of the competition series.

 

8. Events styled 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1500 metres may be swum over related distances dependent on the length of the pool.

 

9. Entries to the competitions will only be accepted from swimmers who have achieved the qualifying times agreed by the Management Board for events over related distances in the 9 months preceding the closing date. The entry fee for the competitions shall be decided by the Management Board.

 

10. Entry forms will be sent to Club’s nominate representatives. Entries must be on correctly completed forms (photocopies accepted), confirmed and signed by the Club’s nominated Swimming representative and accompanied by the appropriate entry fee per swim.

 

11. The Club Swimming representative should submit all their club’s entries, together with one cheque, made payable to WCSA. All entries must be received by the Hon. Swimming Secretary by the closing date fixed by the Swimming Committee. No refunds will be made to competitors who withdraw after advice of acceptance.

 

Clubs will be sent a list of all accepted / rejected swimmers and Club Registration forms for each session.

 

Incorrect entries will not be accepted. Entries are accepted on the understanding that the competitor accepts the promoter’s conditions.

 

12. Club’s Registration forms or cards must be delivered to the defined place at the venue of the competition, 30 minutes before the advertised commencement time of the session concerned. If this procedure is not adhered to, the promoter reserves the right to exclude any swimmers from swimming in the session.

 

13. Any entrant failing to comply with any of the foregoing conditions shall not be allowed to participate in the competitions and shall forfeit the entry fee(s).

 

14. The two lengths Championship, 50m Championship and 100m Championship will have finals. In all other events the placing will be decided by the times recorded in the heats.

 

15. All events will be seeded on the submitted times.

 

If an event is oversubscribed, then lower cut off times may be set. The Swimming Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry and is empowered to reject entries if the number of entrants for an event is oversubscribed.

 

16. Awards

a)      Age Groups – the number of awards will be decided annually by the Management Board.

 

b)      Championship medals struck from the Association die, or such prizes as the Management Board may deem suitable, will be awarded to the first three in each championship. Where the final result is a tie for:

 

1.      First place; the trophy shall be shared and equal medals or prizes awarded.

2.      2nd or 3rd place, the participants will receive equal awards.

 

c)      The Junior Trophy, where applicable, will be awarded to the highest placed junior, 16 years or under on the last day of the competition series, swimming in the championship, together with an award. Age Group Finals are excluded.

 

d)      Anyone declining to swim in a final shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the competition and shall not receive an award.

 

17. Rankings

 

An up to date ranking list must be submitted twice a year to the Hon Swimming Secretary.

 

One to coincide with the closing date of the Age Group and Championship entries, and the second by the third Friday of July. Should ranking lists not be submitted, then Clubs should be aware that their swimmers may not be considered for selection for any County Team Competition.

 

Additional ranking lists may be requested, from time to time, by the Hon. Swimming Secretary, to aid selection of the County Team.

 

18. Alterations to the Conditions for any of the competitions can only be made at a Council meeting of the Association. Each alteration will require a two-thirds majority of those present and voting. 14 days notice of any proposed alteration will be given by the Hon Secretary of the Association.

 

19. All questions arising for which the conditions do not provide shall be determined by the Management Board.
