National Championships Success

This year saw Stourbridge at the ASA Youth Nationals and ASA (50m) Championships with Tom Burchell qualifying for the 100m FC, 800m FC, 1500m FC and Harry Lord qualifying for the 100m FC.  Both lads swam the 100m FC on Wednesday 2nd August (at Ponds Forge Sheffield).  With Harry not as nervous as last year, he was focused and ready and swam a great race - clocking over a second PB with a time of 56.00.  Next was Tom Burchell.  However due to technical problems with a number of timing pads, there was a large break with Tom standing behind the block.  This made it much harder for him to focus upon his swim - not actually knowing when this would be!  When Tom made it into the pool, he swam a good race- just missing his PB, clocking a time of 56.57.  Overall, in their age groups, Tom (16) finished 43rd and Harry (15) finished 15th in the UK.  Well done lads!

Also, following her success in July when she won a gold medal in the European Junior Championships 4x100m Freestyle Relay, Lauren Collins won Gold at the Nationals in her age on 100m and 200m Freestyle, silver in 50m Freestyle and Bronze in 100m Backstroke.
