Message from Nicki

Dear All,

Many thanks for all of your flowers, cards and get well messages.  I have been overwhelmed and shall be eternally grateful for the kind thoughts and the support that has helped me through the last four weeks.

My operation appears to have been a complete success and it is unlikely that I shall need any further chemotherapy treatment.  So successful, in fact, that I have to confess that they discharged me from hospital after only five days instead of the expected ten.  They obviously couldn’t cope with me or with my sense of humour any longer than was necessary. Having my stopwatch in one hand and whistle in the other may have had a bearing on this especially when I repeatedly told the nurses to keep their fingers tight together, to breathe on alternate sides and to kick hard off the wall!

However, I must acknowledge the care and professionalism of my wonderful consultant who on discharging me, told me to go home and eat as many cakes, biscuits and as much chocolate as I could get my hands on in an attempt to boost my calorific intake and pile on a few pounds…. and I should add a special thank you here to Laura and Ant who came to visit me armed with a box full of fresh cream cakes and also to Stew for laughing at the funny side of things with me even on the days that they didn’t seem so amusing.

I was thrilled to hear of the B Team Diddy League success, the County Sprint results and indeed the news from the first of the 2006 Club Championship series.  At the end of the day competition is all about enjoying yourselves and knowing that you’ve given everything your best shot, no-one can ask for or expect more than that. Well done everyone!

I am well on the road to recovery although I’m not quite up to jumping around on poolside just yet but you never know when I may decide to drop in on one of the sessions and surprise you all. Be assured that the voice is in full working order as are the eyes - so beware!

Thank you all so much,

Nicki
