Without officials there are no galas or competitions and so they are vital. It is important at all galas that all judges are qualified and preferably timekeepers also so that competition is fair for all the swimmers. At our open meets only qualified officials can be used. It is important therefore that each year there are a few new officials to help spread the load and join our small team in the club. It is very rewarding and a great way to get involved in the sport as well as your children.
The training of officials has changed in the last twelve months and so everyone is going through a learning curve on the new system. The starting qualifications are CLUB TIMEKEEPER and J1 JUDGE. As a club we are promoting JI Judge as this is the first qualification that is recognised by British Swimming and is a more rewarding position. It includes timekeeping and the start of judging.
We therfore want to find out how many would be interested in becoming officials.
Please email Bernard with your name and contact details and he will contact you.
Note you will not be committed . You are simply signifying that you would like more information and discuss what is involved.
Why dont you become an official?
