Where do I start – what a team!!!  This was an amazing gala to watch with 27 1^st places out of a potential 40 – we scored on average 5.5 points per event – that is just incredible!!

 

The following swimmers did not drop a point all night – being involved in straight 1^st places:  Emily B, Laura C, Becki C, Beth D, Ellie L, Becky S, Emily T, Jack H, Tom P, Alex T and Sam T. This is a fantastic achievement.  Close behind, only dropping 1 point was Kay B, Tom B, Adam F, Phil H, Adam H and Jon L.

 

In all 8 relays we only dropped 1 point

Let us also not forget the B team who were within only 5 points of coming third and only 12 from second!

This shows the quality and depth of the team we have – well done to you all.

 

The final scores were:

 

Stourbridge A                  221 points

Wyre Forest                        135 points

Bromsgrove                        128 points

Worcester B                        128 points

Stourbridge B                      123 points

Orion                                  101 points

 

This is an emphatic win for us and long may it continue!

 

In terms of positions in the gala, we scored our points as follows:

Now these figures to me are really impressive and

highlights the high calibre of swimmers we have in

this Club.

 

 

 

 

 

Age group of the night is the Open swimmers, with the Open Ladies taking maximum points from their 4 events – what a magnificent performance.  A special mention to Ellie and Becki C for swimming up and still winning their individuals by a significant margin.

 

Stroke of the night – our breaststrokers.  I have to say that we are used to seeing the Ellie/Jack double and they didn’t let us down in their respective age groups but we also have a new double act in Emily T and Joe, with Becky S also coming through.

 

Swimmer of the night - difficult choice because all of you were so outstanding.  However for me, 2 swimmers stood out.  Sam T for consistently jaw dropping performances all night and Joe B who won his individual event by an incredible 10 second margin.  Well done lads – it was an absolute pleasure to watch you.

 

Team of the night, well with 2 swimmers being named as swimmers of the night, it has to be the 13s boys.

 

In terms of the boys or girls – this was joint honours, scoring equal points each. Lads – you’re back on par!

 

Harry – we all missed you mate – hope you’re back on your feet again soon.

 

I would like to express a couple of thanks tonight because Matt and Alex did a couple of very last minute changes for me to make my life so much easier.  I would also like to thank Anne Pollard for doing such a professional job in such difficult circumstances.
