Diddy League Round 1 Report 21/4/07

Well I really don’t know how we pulled this off, a very surprising result as you will see, with only 3 first places and only 6 second places, to finish second overall was a great achievement.

Boldmere A appear to be in a league of their own, they had 68 points to our 34 level with Haden Hill and Oswestry, Hinkley A were in 2nd with 44 and Startford Sharks were 3rd with 37.

Only one winner in the first section, which was Sam Tromans.

The next twelve events remained much same, again only one winner, Sam.

We moved into 3rd place behind Boldmere and Hinkley, however it was still very tight, apart from Boldmere who were out on their own with 129 points.

I’m afraid to say, that from here on the official results sheets were in a bit of a mess, and it’s very difficult for me to see where we were after the next twelve events, so we’ll have to jump to event 40. I apologise for not being able to mention every body on this occasion, however the points were as follows:

Boldmere      206

Hinkley            130

Stourbridge    129

Oswestry       124

Stratford        122

Haden Hill      121

The final twelve races would be critical, in this stage we managed to achieve one first place by Ellee Madigan, 4 second places who were, Emily T, Adrian G, Nat D and the Cannon, which was excellent, there was also a 3rd place from Tom P.

The strongest section of the gala by far, which moved us up into second place, by some distance of 8 points.

Final Points:

Boldmere (An amazing)      265

Stourbridge                          168

Oswestry                              160

Stratford Sharks                  160

Hinkley                                  159

Haden Hill                            152

We definitely have our work cut out to bridge the gap, however with a little hard work I’m sure that we can improve, second place was an excellent result, especially with no disqualifications from our youngsters which is a great tribute to their coaches.

WELL DONE!!!

Swimmer of the night:          Ellee Madigan for a fine individual victory.

Team of the night:                Cannon team, which included, Aimee, Katie, Lauren, Sophie, Jack, Adam, Jake, Sam. and Adrian.

That’s about it for this week, thanks to my Timekeepers, Steve and John, Judge Richard and my assistants Sophie Lord and Stu Birnie.

In future rounds I will be looking for some new parents to assist in some new roles.

Next round is at Worcester on 12/05/07 which is a 25m pool, this will be the first time the team have swam in a 25m pool for a number of years. The opposition will be as tough as usual, but we are in a strong position after a good first round result, let’s hope we can do it again.
