ROUND 3 DIDDY LEAGUE   A TEAM @Leamington 27.06.09

We travelled to Leamington with four key swimmers unavailable due to illness/injury. With just 26 of the 30 used in the previous two rounds, many young swimmers found themselves swimming numerous relays and individuals, some up in age.   For our 12 year olds it was their final Diddy Gala.

Over the three rounds we have not once incurred a DQ showing the high standard and concentration that all our swimmers have attained.
Special thanks must go to those dedicated swimmers who have turned up knowing they will only swim relays.   They are as important as any other team member once again proving a valuable asset to the overall result.

I don’t usually do swimmer of the night, as it’s a Team effort.  But a special mention tonight goes to Joe Hamilton for his margins of victory and Aaron Costigan (AZZA) for his two wins in the breastroke 10’s & 11’s.  Team of the night has to be the 9-year-old boys.  Simply brilliant.

Once again I would like to thank Chris for Judging, Mark Sedgley & Colin for Timekeeping and Paula Pay, Alex Thom, Lauren Sanders, Jason, Stew & Marc for their valuable help on poolside.

This result leaves us 8th in the League of 24 Teams on the same league points as Solihull who finished 6th and have reached the final.  We have achieved everything we could have and more in each of the three rounds showing the strength and talent of these young swimmers in Stourbridge Swimming Club.  An easier draw in rounds 1 & 2 may have enabled us to reach that final.
WELL DONE EVERYONE.

John.
