my second installment...sorry its late, iv had no internet!
HI guys! Sorry my second installment is late, the internet has been down in our apartment block…Iv heard you all liked my first one, even if there were a few spelling mistakes! Haha. I didn’t realise, I blame the dyslexia ;) , my mom and dad told me to use the spell check on Microsoft word for this one so that I know which spelling is correct. Even though ill probably still get it wrong! Ohwel J it’s the content you want not correct English…I hope!
Well not a lot has really happened since I last wrote to you all, I have mainly been training hard and sleeping a lot? I have to say though that the training is starting to feel easier so I must be getting fitter! And I’m not falling asleep in random places around the apartment anymore J which is good!!
However my coach is still obsessed with kick (I’m not getting any better at it) still feel like I’m dying by the time I reach the wall…I just hope that as there season starts to pick up again that we start doing less of it.
I cant believe I almost forgot this!!!! Stewart get everyone to invest in a drag suit…(swimmers don’t get excited, it’s the worst form of torture imaginable) they are the same as drag shorts, however there is a big pouch on the back an two massive pockets on the front. This makes it hell to swim in, on a morning session this week we did a pre-set in them of 15 x 100m front crawl on 2 minutes descending 1-3 each 3rd one was timed and we had to go faster than the previous consecutive 3rd hundred. Does that make sense? Then if that wasn’t bad enough we the did a 3600m pull set first 1200m in just band (I suck at this) then pull boy and band for the next 1200m and to finish 1200m band, pull boy and paddles. Just when I thought we could do a swim down and get out I was told we were doing a set of 4 x 50m as easy medium fast easy on 30seconds then a 100m as pb+12 (we did this 3times). On the 100m I was comfortably hitting a 1.03.00 long course so now my coach recons I can go a 52 long course by the end of the 10 weeks haha! I wish! We then had an evening session that was a good 6100m containing at least 1800m kick. Fun times.
But in all honestly now, these sets are making me feel so much more powerful in the water and I think we really need to look back into morning sessions at Stourbridge because they are highly beneficial to the swimmer (as long as they are a continuation with the weeks sessions at the club). That way we wont be too knackered for the evening sessions J .
I still have to say after 3 weeks of training here not one person has complained to our coach about the sessions, even when we have to do 40x100 or 22x200’s. To me it seems like madness but it seems to be working, still doing the sprints and stuff but get that fast long distance work in and you’ll be flying during your sprints (working magic for me).
Hope none of you are being big wuss’s at the sessions back home! Counties are coming up soon and we can all do really well so get in the pool and train your arse’s off! Want to see loads of Pb’s off all of you and hundreds of GOLD medals J Speak to you all soon. Invitations still open to email me.
