Nuneaton & Bedworth April Qualifying
Meet - Target Open Cycle 2.
With the success of the Counties behind us we went in for more regional and
national qualifying times. Nuneaton is 2m deep all the way so some seriously
fast swimming was expected!! There wasn't a huge army of us on poolside, but we
were to make a much bigger impression than I expected by the end of the meet.
Once again the sun was out it was a wonderful day and we were stuck in 35 degree
heat! As the swimmers took to the pool, there were some seriously fast times
coming out with many swimmers beating times that were only set last week at the
Counties, a great achievement.
There are unfortunately as always too may swims to mention, but
congratulations goes to Kate Jones on achieving her 1st Regional qualifying time
in 200m Back, and Rebecca Cole once more gaining another PB in 100m BK getting
ever closer to that National time, now less than a second away! Also
congratulations to the swimmers achieving their regional times ,they are
starting to pile up - keep an eye on that hall of fame!
There were many excellent performances, but with many of our swimmers in
the bottom end of the double age group this did make it hard for them to climb
the result sheets. The following swimmers gained medal positions:
Phill Harrington 1st 100m BRST, 2nd 200m IM , 2nd 100m FC & 1st 200m
BRST
Jack Henderson 3rd 100m BRST, 2nd 200m IM & 3rd 100m
FC
Rebecca Cole 100m BK 1st & 2nd 200m BK
Sam Rowbotham 3rd 200m BRST & 3rd 100m BK
Graham Harrington 2nd 200m BRST
Zoe Hunter 3rd 100m BK
At the start of the final session the top club points were
read out with us in 1st place!! This was a fantastic achievement with such a
small squad in attendance, and this pulled the swimmers together using their
Maths skills to track the points of the top 3 clubs throughout the final
session!! I am pleased to say we maintained our 1st place and were rewarded with
the top club trophy for the club to keep.
Well done everyone.
Its Long Course next time!!
