Round 2 and a trip to Bromsgrove for the A Team.  A few changes from the first round and a big thank you to Bethan, Ed, Jake and Josh for stepping up for the team.

An interesting start that had me on the edge of my seat (well, the pool really cus I don’t sit down!!)  The first 10 events saw us take 49 of the possible 60 points – a great start!  The clear winners in this section came from Katie with a fantastic 3 second lead and looking more and more confident every time I see her swim, and the Mixed 15s Medley Team with a 4 second lead. A great 1st place on the touch came from Becky S to take the Open Fly.  We had 3 first places and 4 2nd places out of 10 swims – well done kids, we’re off and running!

We stepped up the pace in the next 10 events, taking 52 points in this quarter, giving us a 30 point lead at the half way stage.  Wins came from Nat on the Fly (8 seconds clear in her own age group and taking a double victory by over half a second in the under 15s); Becki C swimming up on the Open Back with a clear 2.5 second margin and Sam T who put in a storming swim to finish 3 seconds clear on his Fly.  What really struck me in this quarter was the fact that we never dropped out of the top 3 places in all 10 events – great consistent swimming from the team!

Now we were on a roll – the third quarter saw another 51 points going on the board, extending our lead to 41 points.  Great wins came from our Open Medley Team (Becki C, Rich, Lucy, Tom B, Becky S and Nick) who finished 4 seconds ahead of the second place team; Joe who put in a fantastic finish to take all 6 points; Ellie who was amazing and leaving 5 seconds of clear water between her and the 2nd place swimmer; Jack who battled really hard to take his 6 points; Nick who annihilated the field to storm his way to victory and Aaron taking a phenomenal 4 second win over his nearest rival.

The final 10 races saw Becki C power to a 9 second victory in her own age group backstroke. Not to be outdone Tom A had an amazing 4 second lead when he touched in on the wall – great double act kids!!  Rich stretched to take the last individual event of the night on the touch.

So just the freestyle relays to come and yet again a great set of results – 2 firsts and 2 thirds.

So the final scores were:

Stourbridge A                     204 points

Halesowen B                         150 points

Haden Hill                              144 points

Droitwich                                128 points

Hereford                                 110 points

Bromsgrove                             98 points

Stroke of the night came again from our Fly swimmers.  My Team of the night are my Under 15s – Sophie, Jack, Becki C, Ellie, Sam T, Beth, Tom A and Nat.  This team were just outstanding all night taking 56 points out of a possible 60.

Swimmer of the night didn’t really take much to think about. I had several swimmers: Ellie, Beth, Becki C, Sam T, Tom A, Rich and Nick who all gained maximum points from their events tonight but one swimmer stood out in my mind for an absolutely amazing effort on their individual event, and that’s Tom Asprey.  Well done Tom you were outstanding tonight.

In terms of the boys or girls – they’re back!!!  The Girls got this one!!

I would like to say a big thank you to my team of helpers who turn out time and time again for me and to our hosts for a great gala that ran extremely smoothly.

This is Captain Jason- over and out!
