After a disappointing fifth place in round one, it was important to get a good result in round two at Droitwich.

 

We made a steady start to the gala with one win from Katie Jones the highlight of the first nine events. Then Stourbridge came alive with impressive wins from Natalie, Zoe, Sam, Emily, Ryan Sharpe, Becky Shaw and Alice as well as the girls 15 years medley relay totalling 8 wins from 11 events. Fantastic! This really got the crowd cheering. Tom Asprey set a new PB on route to take 2^nd in the 15 years butterfly. Really good swim Tom. At the half way point the scores were;

The girls carried on the winning form with victory in the Open medley relay followed by two more superb wins coming from Sophie Page who had just driven back from London after competing in a cross country event and a convincing win by Ricky Gaddu in the breaststroke. This meant that we were able to enter the final quarter of the gala maintaining a commanding lead. Again two more wins, this time thanks to Hannah Irwin and Charlotte Rowbotham topped a brilliant team performance. The final scores were;

Top age group was the 15 year olds with 5 wins between them.

Top stroke was the backstroke taking 6 wins out of 8 events.

Boys or girls? The girls take it with 84 points to 73.

 

A great result and superb team performance. Well done to all the swimmers.
